I smoked for over 35 years.  I quit in 2003.  I had tried a multitude of ways to stop smoking—from cold turkey to hypnosis.  Cold turkey did not work—by noon on the first day I ran my fingernails down a wall and then lit up a cigarette.  Hypnosis worked for a little while until I ran into a stressful situation—then I lit up a cigarette.  All of the options in between were good for a little while, and then fizzled out.
